The Films of Ana Mendieta

Organized by curator Jay Ezra Nayssan and Del Vaz Projects in collaboration with the Estate of Ana Mendieta, this program presents a diverse selection of ten films created by the multidisciplinary artist between 1971 and 1981. Recording her site-specific installations, performances, and experiments, these moving-image works explore landscapes across Iowa, Oaxaca, and Cuba, where Mendieta engages primordial nature in a dialogue with the human body. 

 

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Raquel Cecilia Mendieta, Director of the Estate of Ana Mendieta, and curator Jay Ezra Nayssan.
